Applying repellent every day will slowly make it so you need to use less product over time. Apply repellent early in the morning for the best results. Experiment with how much product you need, which will be based on the temperature, humidity, and cleanliness of your coat.
Overview
Prior to application, brush the horse thoroughly, removing any loose dirt or dust. Use an applicator mitt or a folded Turkish towel (about 12" x 15"). Moisten, but never soak, with product. Briskly rub against the direction of hair growth. Pay extra attention to the face, neck, shoulders, legs, and shanks, where flies can be most problematic. Apply more product as needed, using about 1 or 2 ounces total (depending on the size of your horse). Use a brush to groom. Kill any attached ticks by dabbing directly onto the parasite using a saturated cloth.
