Overview
Sentinel is an orally-administered product. It is given once monthly in the recommended dosage (4.55mg of lufenuron per pound of body weight and 0.23mg of milbemycin oxime per pound of body weight). Refer to the supplemental package insert inside the product carton for thorough information regarding the concurrent use of Sentinel and another flea prevention product. Sentinel Flavor Tabs are appealing and readily consumed by most dogs. If your dog is finicky and refuses to eat these tablets, you may hide them in food. Ensure that your dog consumes the full dose. Administer with or just after a meal. Food is required for proper lufenuron absorption. Closely monitor your dog after administration to ensure that the full dose is consumed. If not fully consumed, the full recommended dose should be re-administered as soon as you can. This medication must be given each month. The best course of action is to administer it on the same date every month. You may begin treating your dog at any time of the year. In areas with seasonal fleas and mosquitoes, begin the treatment schedule a month before the anticipated onset of the season and continue administering until the season has ended. In areas with infestations that occur year-round, continue treatment with no interruption throughout the entire year. Administer once monthly for the control and prevention of fleas. This product contains lufenuron, which controls fleas by preventing flea egg development. This product does not kill mature adult fleas. If your dog has an existing flea infestation, fast relief may be achieved by administering Capstar. Capstar uses nitenpyram, an effective ingredient for treating flea infestations. It begins killing adults within 30 minutes. When administering Capstar and Sentinel concomitantly, administer Capstar once weekly until no adult fleas are seen. You may administer more Capstar as needed to kill any adult fleas picked up in the infested environment. Every dog and cat in your home should be treated. Untreated pets can harbor infestations, causing persistent infestation and incomplete control. Your dog should be weighed prior to starting this medication to ensure accurate dosing. Never administer to a dog under the age of 4 weeks or under 2 pounds of body weight. Administer alongside a normal meal. Recommended Monthly Dosage (in Milbemycin Oxime Per Tablet/Lufenuron Per Tablet): 2 to 10 Pounds: 2.3mg/46mg 11 to 25 Pounds: 5.75/115 26 to 50 Pounds: 11.5/230 51 to 100 Pounds: 23/460 Over 100 Pounds: Administer the proper number of tablets to accurately dose your dog, based on their exact body weight.
