Who is Re-Sorb Oral Hydration Electrolyte Packets for Scouring Calves for?
Veal calves and scouring calves.
Why use Re-Sorb Oral Hydration Electrolyte Packets for Scouring Calves?
Re-Sorb comes in powder packets that can be mixed with water. It helps calves absorb water, energy, and electrolytes and it controls dehydration related to scours. It is a good option for stressed or newly-purchased calves.
How does Re-Sorb Oral Hydration Electrolyte Packets for Scouring Calves work?
Oral compounds of glucose and glycine have been used to treat dehydration caused by cholera in humans for a number of years. The reason for using oral hydration is that active glucose and glycine absorption occurs when you take these substances orally. This has also been proven to work when treating scouring animals Escherichia coli causes scours by secreting toxins into the small intestine of the animal. These toxins cause profuse secretion of water and electrolytes, but they do not have any effect on absorption of glucose or glycine. When you administer Re-Sorb, the water, sodium, glucose, and glycine are effectively absorbed, correcting dehydration.
