Product Description
Posatex Otic Suspension is an antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial drug intended to treat otitis externa (swimmer's ear) caused by strains of bacteria and yeast that are sensitive to the medication.
Who is POSATEX Otic Suspension for?
Dogs.
Why use POSATEX Otic Suspension?
Posatex is a powerful anti-inflammatory that can help with otitis externa (swimmer's ear) and ear infections. Malassezia pachydermatis, for example, is active against particular forms of yeast infection. Enterococcus faecalis, pseudomonas aeruginosa, and coagulase-positive staphylococci are among the microorganisms it targets.
How does POSATEX Otic Suspension work?
Posatex comprises mometasone furoate monohydrate, a powerful anti-inflammatory; orbifloxacin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic; and novel triazole, a novel antifungal for veterinary use.
Manufacturer:
Merck Animal Health
Active Ingredients(s):
1.0% Orbifloxacin, 0.1% Mometasone Furoate Monohydrate and 0.1% Posaconazole, Otic Suspension
How is POSATEX Otic Suspension sold?

What are the side effects of POSATEX Otic Suspension?
Each component in this formulation has the potential for negative side effects. Mometasone is a topical corticosteroid, while Posaconazole is an antifungal. Cushing's disease (iatrogenic hyperadrenocorticism) and adrenocortical suppression have been linked to long-term corticosteroid usage. In several young animal species, intrinsic quinolone treatment has resulted in cartilage disintegration in weight-bearing joints as well as other arthropathia symptoms (joint illness). Other negative effects are conceivable as well. Any worrisome, annoying, or unexpected responses should be discussed with a veterinarian.
What special precautions are there?
Unless a veterinarian directs otherwise, do not use this medication concomitantly with other ear treatments. Do not administer to an animal with a perforated eardrum (tympanic membrane). Do not give to a dog with a suspected or known allergy to posaconazole, mometasone furoate monohydrate, or quinolones.
What to do if overdose?
Contact the closest veternarian or animal hospital. You can also call, Merck Animal Health Pharmacovigilance: Companion Animal Technical Services, 800-224-5318.
