What are the side effects of Hyalovet (Hyaluronate Sodium) Injection 20 mg/2 ml (10 mg/ml)?
There are no known adverse reactions associated with this product. Like all intra-articular injections, mild inflammatory responses (swelling, heat, and tenderness) could occur in the joints after injecting Hyalovet. This is typically self-limiting, but could last 2 to 5 days following treatment. In case of severe or excessive inflammation, consult your veterinarian.
What special precautions are there?
Do not use this product on horses that will be eaten by people. Do not use this product on people. Do not administer intravascularly. If you have used some of the product, put it in a safe place and then put it in the trash.
What to do if overdose?
If overdose occurs, please contact your local pet hospital or emergency pet clinic immediately.
How can I store Hyalovet (Hyaluronate Sodium) Injection 20 mg/2 ml (10 mg/ml)?
Store at or below 75°F (25°C).
Overview
Administer according to your veterinarian's directions. Recommended dosage is 2mL for small and medium joints (fetlock or carpus) administered intra-articularly. More than 1 joint can be treated simultaneously. If needed, repeat injection 1 week (or more) later. Do not administer more than 2 injections weekly for 4 weeks total. Use strict aseptic technique to inject. Remove excess synovial fluid before injecting. For optimal results, give horses limited exercise or 2 days of rest prior to resuming training.
