Firocoxib specifically decreases prostaglandin formation by inhibiting inducible COX-2 enzymes, according to research. Because it is specific for COX-2, it has no impact on COX-1.

Like other types of NSAID medication, EQUIOXX is associated with certain potential side effects. A serious side effect can happen suddenly. The most frequently-reported side effects include: Sores or ulcers on the tongue or inside the mouth Sores, scabs, redness, or rubbing on the skin of the face, particularly in the mouth area Eating or drinking habit changes (consumption frequency or amount/volume consumed) Urination habit changes (frequency or color) Jaundice (yellowing of the gums, skin, or eye whites) Unexpected weight loss Behavioral changes (such as increased or decreased activity levels) Mouth and face mucosa and skin erosion or ulcers Tongue effects Kidney effects Notify your veterinarian if you notice these or any other side effects.
What special precautions are there?
