Unless your veterinarian tells you differently, make sure you give the entire prescription. Even if the pet appears to be improving, the treatment program should be finished to avoid the development of resistance or recurrence. The type of the infection will determine the frequency, dose, and length of treatment. The normal oral dose for cats is 2.5 milligrams per pound every 12 hours or 10 milligrams per pound daily.
