How does Primor Tablet work?
Ormetoprim, like other diaminopyrimidines, acts by preventing bacteria from converting dihydrofolic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid. Ormetoprim (sulfadimethoxine) inhibits two stages in the bacterial folic acid metabolism, resulting in folate coenzyme deficiency. Bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects have been demonstrated for potentiated sulfonamides. Primor inhibits bacterial development while also killing the microorganisms.
