The most frequently-reported side effect is a reaction at the injection site.
What special precautions are there?
In pigs or cattle, a local response at the injection location may occur, resulting in edible tissue loss at the time of slaughter. It has not been determined whether or not it is safe to use in breastfeeding, pregnant, or breeding animals. Clothing, mouth, eyes, and skin should all be avoided. Clothing that has been contaminated should be discarded. Water and soap should be used to cleanse exposed skin. For at least 15 minutes, flush the infected eye(s) with water. In the event of an allergic response, which may include difficulty breathing, hives, or a skin rash, seek emergency medical attention. Individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins should avoid exposure. Sensitization can occur as a result of prolonged or repetitive exposure. Allergies to cephalosporins and penicillins are possible. Following topical antimicrobial exposure, some people may have mild to severe allergic responses. Keep away from children. Never administer to a human.

Overview
Give an intramuscular dose of 1.36 to 2.27 mg ceftiofur per lb of weight (1 mL suspension per 22-37 lbs of weight). Treat for 3 consecutive days, administering a treatment every 24 hours.
